Notice of AGM 2010

Dear member

The Annual General Meeting of BUS USERS UK will take place on Saturday 24 April 2010 starting at 10.30 for 11.00am. The venue this year is the Nottingham Contemporary, Weekday Cross, Nottingham NG1 2GB. It is right next to the Lace Market tram stop (the stop between Station Street terminus and Old Market Square, where the Council House is situated) and five minutes from Nottingham railway station and NCT bus routes.

We hold AGMs in different regions of the country each year and Nottingham has good transport links from the rest of the country and some interesting local transport issues. We are very grateful to Nottingham City Transport and trentbarton for their generous help this year.

Transport Minister Sadiq Khan has recently confirmed that the Bus Appeals Body, in which BUS USERS UK is a major partner, is to continue as the body for dealing with bus passenger complaints in the new era so BUS USERS UK continues to work in interesting and exciting times, though with plenty of challenges to face. Once again this year’s AGM is thus likely to be particularly significant.

Our popular ‘Just a Minute’ sessions will again take place this year; that gives members an opportunity to have their say on an issue concerning bus passengers — but you have no more than one minute to say it! Please indicate on the form if you would like to have your say. This will be on a first come, first served basis.

We are aware that we should have a vice chairman, and there is space on the form to nominate someone for that role. We would like this to be someone from the membership at large rather than an existing officer, and this person will act as a means for membership to make their views known to the officers. Jeffrey Anderson who is our local contact in Norwich is prepared to stand, but you are free to nominate someone else for this role, and indeed for the roles of chairman and treasurer.

If you wish to attend the AGM we would be grateful if you could complete the email form from the link below no later than Monday 5 April.

Yours sincerely

Gavin Booth
